Bounded Voices
Objective:
This poster was created during the Mahsa Amini protests and the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement in Tehran. The professor set a restriction to use only basic 2D shapes such as squares, triangles, circles, and lines. My goal was to design a poster that, besides announcing the exhibition, would symbolically reflect the atmosphere of protest.
Concept:
The square symbolized imposed frameworks. The black circles represented people attempting to move beyond these limits. The red triangles around the square were intended to represent danger, barriers, harm, and suppressive forces. This became a metaphor for restrictions and collective resistance.
Visual Elements & Color:
Black circles: people and diverse voices.
Square: rigid limitations.
Red triangles: danger, barriers, suppression.
The red–black contrast was chosen to emphasize tension and seriousness.
Outcome:
The result is a poster made with simple geometric forms that symbolically conveys a protest message. Within the given restriction, I tried to represent the idea of resistance against imposed limitations.
Iranian Folk Music Concert
Objective
To create a visual identity that reflects the authenticity, simplicity, and deep cultural roots of Iranian regional music.
Concept & Idea
-
Using traditional motifs and inspirations from Persian illumination for framing and decoration.
-
Featuring the Iranian instrument (Tar) as the central visual element of the poster.
-
Symbolic integration of birds and flowers to convey vitality, freshness, and the connection between music and nature.
Color & Form
A navy-blue background to evoke dignity and authenticity.
Lighter colors (such as white and orange) to create contrast and highlight details.
Design Process
The process began with initial hand sketches, followed by selecting traditional motifs and combining them with the Iranian instrument as the central theme.
Outcome
The result is a poster designed with minimal forms and traditional motifs. It combines Persian decorative elements, the Tar as the central instrument, and symbolic birds and flowers to visually connect the concert with cultural themes.
Less Tree, Less Breath
Objective
In this project, I focused on deforestation, air pollution, and climate change. My goal was to design a simple yet clear poster that shows the direct impact of these crises on human life.
Concept & Idea
The idea came from my experience living in Tehran, a city facing overconstruction, drought, and the loss of green spaces.
The cylindrical forms represent cut tree trunks, while the shadows emphasize the absence of full trees.
The short phrase “Less Tree, Less Breath” clearly summarizes the essential role of trees in sustaining life.
Color & Form
The beige background symbolizes dryness and desertification.
The brown tones have a dual role: they suggest tree trunks, but also evoke drought and dryness.
This duality creates a contrast between life (trees) and death (desertification). The minimalist design makes the message stronger and more direct.
Design Process
I started by reflecting on environmental problems around me, then simplified the idea into geometric forms and earthy tones to highlight the sense of dryness and loss. Using minimal elements helped keep the message serious and focused.
Outcome
The result is a poster that uses simple geometric forms and limited colors to symbolize the issue of deforestation. The design combines tree-trunk shapes, shadows, and the phrase “Less Tree, Less Breath” to highlight the connection between trees and human life.
Subway
Objective
This poster was designed to highlight freshness and convenience as the two core values of Subway. My aim was to create a visual identity that directly connects the brand to urban life and daily commuting.
Concept & Idea
The sandwich is combined with the outline of a train, directly linking the product to speed, convenience, and commuting.
At the bottom, a subway map-inspired graphic forms the slogan: “Eat Fresh On Your Way.”
This mix of food imagery and urban transport symbols makes the message clear and visually engaging, while the minimal lines keep the design modern and easy to read.
Color & Form
I used green and yellow, the official brand colors of Subway.
Green represents freshness and health.
Yellow conveys energy and positivity.
The contrast between these colors makes the design vibrant and emphasizes brand recognition.
Outcome
The result is a poster designed with minimal forms, combining the image of a sandwich with the outline of a train. The composition uses Subway’s brand colors and a metro-map-inspired slogan to connect the idea of commuting with fresh fast food.
